Membership Categories, Benefits and Criteria

1.STUDENT MEMBER
Benefits
    • Be issued with a membership certificate
    • Be issued with a recommendation letter.
    • Receive relevant mailings and e-mail messages, i.e. Bulletins, Newsletters, Journal, etc
    • Information on Attachments, Internships and Jobs opportunities
    • Opportunity to attend Conferences and Professional Development forums at a subsidised rate or nominal fee.
    • Access to available Information, tools, and guidelines at EIK
    • Financial Benefits e.g. scholarships referrals
    • Opportunities to access Networking Resources: workshops, seminars and conferences
    • Access to member webinars – Earn CPD while staying abreast of new topics and information.
Qualifications to Join
    • Be a Kenyan citizen or resident
    • Applicants must be engaged in a course leading to an examined degree, HND or equivalent qualification in a relevant environmental Discipline. Upon graduation, those wishing to remain members of EIK should apply for Associate membership.
2. ASSOCIATE MEMBER
Benefits

    • Attend EIK meetings, forums or conferences at a reduced rate or nominal fee.
    • Right to vote at all EIK meetings
    • Be issued with a recommendation letter.
    • Right to Vie for any office of the EIK
    • Be issued with a practicing certificate to work under guidance of Lead expert
    • Opportunities to access training, conferences, seminars, webinars, self-study courses, books and manuals.
    • Receive certificates of training or attendance
    • Expand your knowledge with content relevant to your career and stay current with the latest environmental related news, information and emerging trends.
    • Diverse networking opportunities – Connect and collaborate with various professionals from all over the country at training events, local chapter meetings and online via targeted Discussion Forums, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Qualifications to Join
    • Be a Kenyan citizen or resident
    • Academic qualifications and professional experience; Higher National Diploma in a relevant subject having at least one-year relevant post qualification professional experience Diploma of not less than 1 year from a relevant Environmental subject from a recognized institution having at least two years relevant post qualification professional experience.
      Or An undergraduate degree in a relevant Environment subject.

3.LEAD MEMBER

    • Right to Vie for any office of EIK

Qualifications to Join

    • Be a Kenyan citizen or resident
    • Have an undergraduate degree in a relevant environmental field subject, with a minimum of five years of relevant post qualification professional experience or A Master’s degree in a relevant subject (and having at least three years relevant post qualification professional experience;
      or An academic PhD degree in a relevant subject and having at least two years relevant post qualification professional experience

4.CORPORATE/FIRM MEMBER

Qualifications to Join

Firm’s membership is granted to firms that are engaged in environmental management activities. The following conditions apply:

    • The firm has a certificate of registration of a business name or certificate of incorporation;
    • The firm has at least one individual duly registered as a Lead member of the EIK and who has a valid practicing certificate;
    • and The firm fulfills any other condition as may be stipulated by the Institute

5.AFFILIATE MEMBER

    • Be issued with a membership certificate
    • Be issued with a recommendation letter.
    • Receive relevant mailings and e-mail messages, Bulletins, Newsletters, Journal, etc
    • Attend forums or conferences at a reduced rate or nominal fee
    • Keep current with the latest scientific information

    • Stay informed with the latest news and information
    • Take pride in your membership

Qualifications to Join

    • The firm has a certificate of registration of a business name or certificate of incorporation
    • The firm has at least one individual duly registered as a Lead member of the EIK and who has a valid practicing certificate;
    • and the firm fulfills any other condition as may be stipulated by the Institute

6.HONORARY MEMBER

Benefits

    • Be issued with a membership certificate
    • Attend forums or conferences at a reduced rate or nominal fee
    • Remain as part of the active membership database
    • Receive relevant mailings and e-mail messages, i.e. Bulletins, Newsletters, Journal, etc
    • Will be provided with a letter/certificate indicating their new status
    • Stay informed with the latest news and information
    • Individuals would enjoy all membership benefits except hold office and vote.
